Tutu Introduces: Gadoh

This is a new 70-minute local film.
Directed by Brenda Danker and Namron.
Starring
Namron, Zahiril Adzim (Bob), Nicholas Liew Davis, Amerul Affendi, and Maya Tan Abdullah.

Personally I haven't watch this movie yet but it sounds rather promising. It touches the really really sensitive racial issues in out country. It might be quite a good movie to allow different races and religions to understand one another in our country.
After all, the sensitive issues in our country have been abandoned for far too long. It might be a taboo but we all need to accept facts to improve ourselves.

Enjoy the trailer!!

Tutu teaches- Makyong

It's been ages since I updated this. I didn't update because there was nothing for me to talk about.

Anyway, I was watching Majalah 3 just now, a programme I last watched when I was 7. I didn't know they are still showing it till now. It sure brings back those memories when I was in my old wooden house.
So, what I am going to introduce today is Makyong, a Malay traditional art. Sad to say, it will extinct if younger generation do not appreciate it. Art only exist for those who knows it. Majalah 3 was introducing about Makyung just now. I admit, I knew nothing of it before this. I've heard of it, but only once or twice in my life. As a modern young teenager who is not exposed much to traditional Malaysian art, I don't know about the art of Makyong. Honestly, I don't know why the slow hand gestures and slow singing that can be a lullaby for me to sleep. But what I know is, it's beautiful because I see beautiful people performing it. I see beautiful people who loves it a lot and have passion.

Makyong is a sort of Malay traditional dance, originated from Kelantan, Malaysia. It is like the combination of acting and dancing. It is believed to have appeared before the Islamization of our country. Before the 1920s, Makyong was performed for the Kings of Kelantan. After 1920s, when the British came, the art of Makyong was expanded to other kampung (villages) .

After that, the art of Makyong started to deteriorate in the second generation. Less people appreciated the ecstatic values of Makyong since then. The moral values in the Makyongs had decreased too. There were many cases of divorce , the dancers did things which were not allowed and having children without husbands were common. Some were even proud of the number of husbands they had. There were no integrity among the dancers and thus, the image of Makyong was ruined.

During the 1960s, there were not much Makyong groups that existed. In addition, the Western cultures were monopolizing the country. And then, the third generation of the Makyong form a group called "Kumpulan Seri Temenggung". The elders from the first generation were asked to teach them dancing and singing. Soon, the original art of Makyong was revived.

It disappoints me how I used to care less about our traditional art. I'm disappointed at the fact that I never really learn and appreciate the traditional. Makyong gave me an insight about how beautiful our traditional art is and how we should maintain it, for one day, it will be gone forever.

Tutu Teaches - Choosing a comic/manga

It's tiring how some parents complain that comics give bad influence to their children when it's pretty obvious that most comics are good. So, anyway, there are some guidelines people need to follow (parents, obviously) if you want to make sure that a certain comic/manga does not give a bad influence to you.

  1. Go and read reviews of the manga before purchasing it. If you can't find any reviews of the manga on the net, forget it. That book obviously is not really famous.
  2. But then if you insist on buying it, check the rating. If it's for older teens, it's possible there are some not really nice scenes in it. Like, if that book is rated for 16 and above, you most probably can read it when you're 14 or 15 but you've got to be careful with some contents inside. Some comics might seem nice but the truth is, how much it influences you, you will never know. Take Death Note for an example. I'll say Death Note is not suitable for kids. Kids will not understand it and it raises lots of unanswered questions.
  3. Look at the drawings and the presentation. If you're not satisfied with the drawings, then don't buy it. You will not enjoy the comic.
  4. Make sure there are no dirty contents in the comic. One manga is Shin Chan. It's not for kiddie under 7 especially the boys. They'll follow what Shin Chan does.
  5. Go find out the author. If he or she is famous, perhaps you can look forward to his or her comics in the future.
  6. Get a few pages or preview of that comic before purchasing it if you're thinking on buying it.
  7. Get a cheaper manga/comic. That might help you a lot in the future. Go hunt for the cheaper ones.
  8. Buy only manga you really love. Don't waste on stuffs that you don't love that much. Or else, go read online, borrow from friends or get cheaper ones.
It might be a stupid guideline but then again, it might help you.

Tutu's Thoughts

I know I shouldn't even get angry over such childish stuff. I shouldn't even care about what people actually think of it.
But how can I not get angry when people actually say this:

X : Eh, you know right, SPM's art is pretty easy to get A, you know? Wanna take?
Y : Oh, really? We can actually take lor. I heard they say it's quite easy also. We should take, it's an advantage. All you need is to study a lil' bit more on the theory part.
X : Yalah, get A for SPM, easier to get scholarship also.

Who the f***ing hell said that the more subjects you take, the easier you can get scholarship? And worse, to think that this kind of thought is from the Science class students. How uncivilised.
I've been practising so hard, yes, I know there are people practising harder than me, but that doesn't mean I don't practise hard. Anyway, I've been practising so hard and all they think is, "Ahh... art is so easy." Maybe it's true that art IS easy in SPM. But have these people ever thought that what if, the day before the paper, they break their hands and won't be able to draw? And they fail their art paper all because they THINK THAT ART IS EASY.

There are some who are even worse. They are from some friggin' Science class, looking down on art. They think that art school is so easy to enter and they enter art school simply because they don't know what to become in the future. It's easy to enter art school but let me tell you, it's even easier to get out of there. Hello, do you guys even know that there is an extremely thick line between GRADUATING from an art school and going out from an art school. And I didn't even say you get kicked out. These Science class people who look down on art, they go to an art school, cried there because they don't have ideas for their projects and 6 months later, you see them in an engineering school already.

I don't quite agree with the "If you're a Science class student, in the future, you can take any subjects from Art class." It's true that being a Science class student, you still get into Art school. But getting into an art school and surviving in it are two different matters. If you don't have base in art but thinking to get into an art school and you don't even love art as much as you love Science, how the hell are you going to graduate?

Seriously, I myself am a Science class student, it's ironic, I know but I enter because in Science class, you have bundle of knowledge and I didn't want to regret a decision. I wanted a save choice. Well, that doesn't mean I hate Science. I do appreciate it, it's just that I'm tired of all the tests and exams.

Anyway, I have to admit some Science class students are really stuck up bitch/jerks who have nothing to do. And some of them don't even know what they want to become in the future (thus, they end up being in an art school) . If you really have no idea what you want to become, don't get into an art school unless you realise that you really have interest in art.

I tell you, ART BITES PEOPLE WHO DON'T APPRECIATE IT.
In this realistic world, art is not kind.
It makes you eat yourself.

Now, will you have a second thought about entering art school? Art is not easy.
It's friggin' hard but it's always beautiful.
It's always beautiful but it's friggin' hard.

I'm done getting angry.
Teehee.

Tutu Teaches - RAIN

Jeez... don't you just love this drawing...
It's by RAIN, in case you're wondering. She's an illustrator from China. I wouldn't blog about her life because I don't know anything about her life. All I know is, she's an awesome artist and I LOVE her!China artists are great. Their drawings are always so light as if they are flying when drawing... I'm flying now... teehee..

You should go check her out. I don't want to blog too much about her, I'm not in the mood. But, she is an extremely good artist.
You can go here to check out her drawings.

Tutu's Brightening Your Life!

Tutu!
Now, if you're a frequent reader of my main blog, I'm sure you're aware of this new blog.
And it's going to be arty, I think. If you're not into comics, this is going to be hell of a boring blog for you.
I'll be having the best manga and anime reviews and when I say the best, I will choose only the BEST. And I can assure you that you're going to like it because I trust my own tastes but if they're not your cup of tea, don't blame me. I'll also introduce famous comic artist from Asia, especially those from China(I just love them). I don't introduce the Westerners because I'm not into Western comics. I might also post some drawings... but not much. If you want, you can go to my Deviantart. It's here. And oh, did I mention that I'll post craps too?

Teehee,
Tutu.
